One of
the challenging projects we have undertaken this year was to support
a 40-strong indigenous Mission Team based in Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda.
The
team were running Christianity Explored courses over a wide area and
training church pastors, many of whom could not afford a personal
copy of the Bible. Their work and needs were drawn to our attention
by a Church Missionary Society worker and together with the Bible
Society in Uganda, we have provided access for them to a range of
Scripture products.

Mission
Team Work |
While
Uganda is a huge distance from Northern Ireland, we were able to set
up an arrangement for Scriptures to be collected from Kampala. On the
first visit of the Mission Team to the Bible Society offices in May
they were delighted to collect 574 Bibles in four different languages
plus several hundred Scripture Portions.

Through
this arrangement the Mission Team is being more effectively resourced
and their work, which saw 35 people being led to Christ in the last
weekend of May, strengthened further.
This is
part of a continuing arrangement in Uganda that is being funded by
the Bible Society in Northern Ireland during 2007.
A total
of 31 countries are currently benefiting from BSNI support for Bible
translation and / or distribution that is impacting on all age groups
and social classes.
