Slowly but surely...
You may remember this photo showing
Dick Jacobs handing me the box of corrected page proofs for the Tagbana
Bible.
The corrections are complete
and the Tagbana Bible is now being typeset for the second
time so pray that there will be no mistakes and the print size will
be big enough to enable people to read it easily.
Give thanks for the encouraging
progress that is evident in terms of literacy. Praise God that
people are making themselves ready to welcome God's Word.
The Cebaara
Bible is currently
at press and should arrive before the end of the year. This is the
result of many years of work as the translation project began
in 1983! Checking the manuscript, typesetting and
printing the whole Bible has taken six years, so
please pray that the printing will run smoothly and the end
product will be pleasing. Praise God for the whole team
who have been involved in this project and pray that the Lord will
prepare hearts to receive his word, so that it will be
warmly welcomed and studied by Cebaara speakers.
The political situation in Cote d'Ivoire is somewhat
restless. The whole country is still unsettled as the Presidential Elections
(initially scheduled for 2005!) have been put off again
and lasting peace is still a dreamword. Please pray for this
situation, that God will intervene and people of influence will be
influenced by His Word.

Praise the Lord for a very
successful workshop organised by the Bible Society in the
Ivory Voast. The workshop was based on translating the book of
Joel, and despite the stressful time beforehand, getting all
the materials ready on time, this proved a useful occasion. All the
OT translation teams attended and most of them completed the book
in the five days. These training opportunites are vitally important
in encouraging and equipping translation teams to work efficiently
and accurately. Give thanks for these days of learining.

Tecnology Update
Money donated
by NI people enabled us to buy two new computers just before
the workshop, so that helped two teams to fully
participate. They were very grateful and we all want to express our
thanks for all the loving gifts from Northern Ireland.
Prayer: The electric company is busy
repairing one of the two power stations so there are frequent power
cuts, all over the country! This is tough as temperatures are
in the high 20s and 30s Centigrade and computers only work when
there is electricity!
