Speaking
Engagements and Deputation Work
How
a Deputation Visit could benefit your church
The
Bible Society currently undertakes a wide range of speaking
engagements each year at Church worship services, Midweek and Mission
meetings, and at evening meetings of Men's / Women's groups and Youth groups.
We also enjoy the occasional invitation to speak to a school
assembly, class or SU group.
In
each case, our purpose is to stimulate interest in the Scriptures,
and demonstrate how the Society is making Scripture available
world-wide, including in Northern Ireland. A relevant presentation
will illustrate the huge range of Scripture translation projects and
distribution projects in countries on every continent. Appropriate
presentations will be designed both for adult listeners and for young people.
These
are opportunities to be encouraged by what is being achieved and to
find ways of becoming involved in prayerful and practical support.
It
is hoped that such visits will encourage congregations, church
groups and individuals to consider afresh the value that they place
on God's Word and to seek ways of sharing it - both within their
local community and further afield, in view of the huge and growing
demand for Scripture.
It
may be possible to arrange a return visit after an interval (usually
2 - 3 years) to update people, as Bible Society work is developing at
a rapid pace and new developments are constantly taking place.
If
you would wish to arrange a visit to your church or church group,
please contact Bible House. Engagements are booked up to a year
ahead, but we will always endeavour to provide a speaker.
If
you would prefer only a short input to a worship Service, we would
suggest you consider a 'Ten Minutes for Mission' approach. We can
arrange an experienced speaker from your area to provide this in a
way that would be sensitive to the local situation.
