Handwritten Bible - finished but not all over .....

During 2006 & 2007, we ran a project to create a Handwritten Bible. This was a project run in parallel by the two Bible Societies in Ireland, to celebrate not only our Bicentenaries, but more importantly, our access to Scripture.

Around 10,500 people took part in Northern Ireland.  Writing went on for 14 months in almost 200 specially set up writing stations in churches, halls and schools all over the country. See some of the feed-back comments and photos to get a flavour of the events.

It is marvellous to know that 10,500 people engaged with God's Word through this project. We encouraged the churches to follow-up the event with the participants by providing free copies of Luke's Gospel for each 'Scribe' and later a certificate of participation.

Did you miss it?  Then run your own!

Some groups were unable to take part in the main project, or only heard about it after the writing was complete.  If that sounds like you, don't worry - you can still run your own local version!

Packs are available with writing paper, pens, posters and certificates etc, all the resources you would need for the writing.  All you need to do is decide what portion of the Bible to copy, some have copied a Gospel, or selections from the book of Psalms.  Perhaps you could tie it in with a current study running in the church or school.  We would suggest you collate the material, index the participants and have it professionally bound to be kept for generations to come!

Give Bible House a ring on 9032 6577 to chat to us about setting up your own local writing station.
