Elhomwe Bible Translation
The Elhomwe language has over one million speakers who mostly live in the southern districts of Malawi. A need has been expressed by various Churches in the Elhomwe speaking community for a full Bible in their mother tongue. Currently the Elhomwe speaking Clergy and Laypersons read Scriptures in Chichewa but preach in Elhomwe in worship services. The Bible Society of Malawi has taken on the job to translate the Bible for the first time into Elhomwe. Approximately 30% of the translation is complete but more support is needed for it to be completed.
Please pray…
Pray for members of the clergy who for years have had difficulty teaching from God’s Word in a language not their own. Ask that God would give these people wisdom to share His message.
