Digital Audio Bibles for the Visually Impaired
The Philippine Bible Society is working to make available Digital Audio Bibles for those who are visually impaired in the Philippines. There are over half a million people in this country who are blind and the only Scriptures they have access to is a Braille Bible which is large and comes in approximately 40 volumes, and an old cassette recording. Producing a digital audio format will provide these people with Scriptures that can easily fit in a pocket and which gives instant access to specific Scriptures – a feature not available with cassettes. The digital format is available in English at present but the Bible Society, in partnership with MegaVoice International, Resources for the Blind and the Japan Bible Society, is working to translate it into the local languages of Tagalog and Cebuano.
Please pray...
Pray that this digital format would be widely accepted and that it will provide a way for many people who are visually impaired to hear the message of Christ.
