Gun Bible Translation

Benin translation teamThe language of Gun is spoken by 320,000 people in Benin, and many of these people wait for the Bible in words they can understand. The Bible in the Gun language was published for the first time in 1923. Eighty seven years on and this version is now old, the language has changed and so has the alphabet.

Literacy classes run by the Bible Society have resulted in many more people now being able to read and write in Gun. These people are now looking for a Bible that they will understand.

Gun speakers would like a modern version of the Bible, written using the new alphabet. This project, run by the Bible Society of Benin, aims to translate and produce the full Bible in Gun. Translation teams will be trained through workshops, equipping them for the task.

Please Pray…
Pray for the translation team carrying out the work – ask that God would give them wisdom and guidance as they tackle this difficult job.
