Visual and Biblical Education for the Deaf
Venezuelan Sign Language is used as a first language by many in Venezuela who are deaf. There is no educational system in place suited to the needs of people who are deaf, and their economic status doesn’t allow access to additional resources tailored to their language, culture and needs. The United Bible Societies in Venezuela is working to meet the need within this population by improving the learning of Sign Language through the teaching of God’s Word. The production of a booklet with visual aids will show people who are deaf the key words they need to understand in order to grasp Biblical principles. Christians, both those who can hear and those who are deaf, will be trained in how to teach groups of people and how to best share the message of Christ with them.
Please pray…
Pray for the churches in Venezuela, that through this project they would be encouraged to start programmes of ministry to those who are deaf.
